ISAM, acronym for In-space Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing, is a joint commercial-government effort that KMI is supporting through their technologies and these awarded contracts.

Renaissance Venture Capital assembles a semi-annual “Hotlist” limited to the top 50 companies across all industries, “identified as the most promising early-stage companies in Michigan.” The Winter 2021/2022 list includes KMI among the high potential companies from recommendations made by Renaissance local partners (universities, incubators, accelerators, seed funds, angel networks, etc.) and features a KMI pitch deck.

Morris presented on KMI technology as a Featured Speaker for the Invited Industry Technology Talks, the closing portion of the On-Orbit Servicing, Assembling, and Manufacturing (OSAM) Workshop hosted by Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. This presentation, “Electrostatic/Gecko Adhesion and AI/ML Algorithm for Uncontrolled Object Capture,” was delivered to fellow members, collaborators, and colleagues of industry, academia, government, and military.

This group discusses innovations and research involving the ISS-located, self propelling research robots named Honey, Queen, and Bumble. KMI has successfully completed the initial close of their seed round, led by Michigan Rise along with limited, invited investors. This round allows KMI to continue growing the team, progress research, and further connect with our industry, partners, and opportunities. The final close will be completed in early fall with additional regional investors and angels.


CONFERS Member

KMI was accepted as a Contributing Member to CONFERS, to serve as a private sector stakeholder in the international satellite servicing community. The Consortium for Execution of Rendezvous and Servicing Operations (CONFERS) is an industry-led initiative that aims to leverage best practices from government and industry to research, develop, and publish consensus-derived technical and operations standards for On-Orbit Servicing and related activities.
